Benefits of Membership.
The chance to meet new people and to participate in a varied programme of activities are of course the primary reasons why people join an organisation like ours. Your membership fee also covers access to the weekly meetings at the Junction Bar (centrally situated on George Square.) Take a look at our ACTIVITIES section to get an overview of the events we organise and check out the EVENTS DIARY pages to see exactly what is coming up. We value the input of new members and with new members come new ideas - which is how a club grows!
All clubs must have rules so here are ours. As the club is a non profit making organisation which is owned by all members we have tried to keep the rules simple.
CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP.
All members share responsibility for the financial situation of the club and have a common duty of responsibility for the health, safety, security and conduct of all members during social events and meetings.
A committee will be elected from the members by the members for one year when they will be either re-elected or stand down. Committee members can resign at any time but should give notice of at least 4 weeks to allow other members to take their place.
Membership details are confidential and not passed to any third party without the approval of that member.
The club is primarily for the unattached, however married or attached members who have left an established club to join Phoenix40+ may remain as members. Any member who enters into a relationship with another club member may also remain as a member. All NEW members must have single status.
1. An application form agreeing to the terms and conditions of membership must be completed by all members. The Committee will approve all applications prior to acceptance.
2. Misinformation regarding personal details on an application form will result in withdrawal of membership.
3. Voting issues will be carried by a majority decision of any meeting provided that the total attendance of any such meeting is at least 25% of the club membership.
4. Activities undertaken through the club are at members own risk. Members may wish to consider personal insurance for outdoor or physical activities.
5. The club will operate a zero tolerance policy with regards to offensive or aggressive behaviour. Any violation of this may result in withdrawal of membership if deemed necessary by the committee.
6. Grievances and appeals will be discussed by the committee and the findings communicated to the complainant. In the event that the complainant is dissatisfied with the decision of the committee, an ad hoc committee consisting of non committee members will be set up to deal with an appeal.
These rules may of course be amended or added to by the committee at any official committee meeting. Any changes or new rules will be brought to the members attention and there will also be special announcements on our home page.
Please bring your completed membership application form along to any of our Wednesday night Bar Nights.
